Louise Hosking MD, Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner
Over the last 26 years in this industry I have learnt the importance of great customer service, providing effective OSH leadership and removing the fear felt by managers and employees to make their own decisions. We build extremely close relationships with all our clients, implementing arrangements which are practical and workable. When standards are raised, it has a positive effect across the whole organisation. Employees take greater responsibility and feel more engaged in the process whilst owners and managers feel more in control. We find solutions, not problems, and we do it with personality!
I volunteer with IOSH and was extremely honoured and proud to be elected to the presidential team as an IOSH Vice-President in November 2017. Outside of OSH I look forward to an annual Sailing Holiday with my husband who grew up sailing a mirror dinghy on the Solent and is now teaching me the ropes! I love long summer cycle rides. One day I hope to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats. I like finishing the working week with a G&T, and spending time with my incredible circle of friends who live in the UK and overseas.
Claire Wood Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner
Adding value and providing assurance are core key drivers for me in supporting a business’s health and safety management. Through competent, pragmatic advice and guidance gained from a highly successful career working in sectors such as retail, property management, construction and environmental health, I can ensure a business gets to where it wants to be. Health and safety is a diverse and fascinating field from which I believe with the right support any organisation can achieve business focussed solutions to help its health and safety flourish sustainably and economically.
Alongside working in health and safety, family, friends, travel and wellbeing are also my passions. At the moment I’m on an amazing/terrifying adventure bringing up my two small children, but I also love seeing new places and driving a tuk tuk across India a few years ago will take some beating; I’m up for the challenge though!
Tim Birkin Safety and Health Practitioner
I began work in heavy earthmoving as an apprentice mechanic, then in the supply and transportation of chemicals to industry and later worked for 12 years in the hazardous waste industry. From June 2015 I have been employed as SHEQ Advisor to a CCTV installation and maintenance company. I have been a committee member of IOSH Chiltern Branch committee since January 2016.
Recently I have joined a dynamic Safety and Health Consultancy in Hosking Associates.
In my leisure time my wife and I love to explore Northern Italy.
Jo Pearce Safety and Health Practitioner
My background is in Facilities Management where I spent many years managing properties for a multi-site distribution company. Further roles continued to expand my experience and knowledge of Health & Safety, from a business school in a Grade 1 listed property to a production engineering company.
I’m an advocate for simplicity and Health & Safety really doesn’t have to be complicated. Effective measures taken to meet compliance can bring efficiency to any business and make it both a safe and pleasurable environment for employees to work.
I’m a trustee for a charity and volunteer for the local dog rescue centre where I help with fundraising events. I love the countryside and holidays are usually taken exploring the Lake District or Scottish Highlands where I could walk for miles taking in the breath-taking scenery.
Emma Flatt Customer Services
With an extensive background in the NHS and further ten years experience as a Safety Administrator within the Pharmaceutical industry, I relish working with the entire Hosking Associates team. I’m really excited to be working with such a terrific group of exceptional professionals who I’m not only learning a lot from, but also broadening my experiences within Health and Safety. Always striving to offer a high quality service, whilst offering expertise within the industry, I thoroughly enjoy my job and the opportunity I have to speak with our clients on a regular basis. Excellent customer service remains my highest priority.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and young son. Travelling the world, and enjoying fine wine and food, fall heavily in my list of interests.

Liz Horrigan Office Support
After finally stepping away from the rush/smog/hustle and bustle of the City where I spent over 30 years working in the Business Support sector in some of the top law firms, providing first-class Executive Assistant support to lawyers – from trainees to senior partners, I decided to try something completely new, and here I am at Hosking Associates! Everyone here really does show the true meaning of the word ‘team’ and, thankfully, although I am like a child learning to walk when it comes to health & safety, I have some great teachers. I really enjoy learning all about health and safety – who knew it could be so interesting!
In my spare time, I like to travel – who doesn’t like a minibreak! I pretend I know the first thing about gardening, and of course spending quality time with family and friends.
Holly Dumsday Intern
An enthusiastic and motivated graduate student, I have recently completed a Bachelor of Science in Geography at the University of Nottingham, so my future in the real world is just beginning. Throughout my degree, I developed a keen interest in water management and also statistics. I completed a dissertation researching the management strategies being carried out on the River Mimram, a local chalk stream and evaluated the success of these strategies.
I am greatly enjoying my time at Hosking Associates and am benefiting hugely from the experiences I am gaining. With the continued support and nurturing from the team here, I have been able to learn invaluable skills that will help me start my career. I have been exposed to the world of Health and Safety, developing my knowledge of how consultants and businesses operate.
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, socialising with my friends and spending time with my family.
